Learn about the remarkable rise and fall of the Aztec Empire and explore the everyday lives of men and women at all levels of society in this great civilization. The Field Museum has assembled nearly 300 artifacts from museums across Mexico and the U.S. for an exclusive exhibition that will not travel to any other destination. These treasures give a rare perspective of Aztec art, science, trade, cosmology and religious ritual.

The Masterpieces of Ancient Jewelry exhibition has been organized by the National Jewelry Institute. Previously on view at the Forbes Galleries in New York, the installation displays pieces on loan from Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem, The Metropolitan Museum, and Princeton. It includes works dating from the fourth millennium B.C. to ca. 1500 A.D. and documents the rise of ancient cultures and customs. Several pieces, some of which have never been displayed before, were discovered at Kish in central Iraq and belong to the Field Museum.
